Insulation of walls in older homes can usually be done by drilling 1 inch holes into the wall cavity. However, there must be sufficient room in the wall for the insulation to flow into the space and fill it completely. This method is sufficient in many older homes. If not, then other techniques can be used resulting in increased cost, but equivalent energy-saving results.
